Feature error while installing. .... can not be added to this scope

Hi,

Recently I have started using SharePoint Solution Installer that I got from codeplex. When I try to install the solution (have a webpart) with proper WSP and with correct solutionId, it always throws an error at the end like below.

"Feature '83482593-306b-491e-b57e-156c07390073' is not installed in this farm, and can not be added to this scope."

The account I have used to run this installer is an admin account.

Thanks for the help in advance

Have you looked into what feature has that ID, and whether it is installed?

I have found that if I do not comment out the <FarmFeatureId> element in the setup.exe.config that I will get a similar error. In trouble-shooting, I found that the Feature ID in the error message is the same that is in the setup.exe.config element <add key="FarmFeatureId" value="83482593-306b-491e-b57e-156c07390073"/>. I have read in the Discussions that this element is in for backwards compatability but to what I don't know.

But have you looked into what feature has that ID, and whether it is installed?

So, in short, if you have a line in the config file which refers to a feature ID that isn't one of your feature IDs, then either remove that line or correct it.
