New Post: Runs deployed feature twice

Hi,

I have SP timer job and I am deploying it as a feature scoped as a site.

I converted that into a .wsp file and when I run the installer, it is showing up twice in the timer definitions page.

Any reason why it shows my features twice?

Hi,

Since you have provided ActivatedOnDefault=false andalso AutoActivateinCentralAdmin=false in feature.xml, So It may be the cause that sharepoint environment didn't activate the feature. You

can try by changing these two parameter to true. I hope it will help you.

Hi,

I have a single solution (.wsp) file (contain only one manifesh.xml file) to deploy contains two feature scoped to Web. As I start deployment using Sharepoint Installer, It give error "Feature '[feature id]' is Web-scoped, and can not be added to the Site.". Since I have a single manifesh.xml file all features to same scope, why i am getting this error ?

I have only deployed one solution scoped web at a time with the Sharepoint Installer Solution. Ensure that both solutions have their feature.xml files included within the joint wsp, as specified in your ddf file. Double check that their Scope="Web"

I want to deploy wsp file of SiteTemplate. This solution file contains two features scoped to "Web". So as i am going to deploy it to site level, installer give error. Since these feature are auto

generated by sharepoint enviornment, I am unable to change its scope. Can any one suggest any way?

I have successfully put together a wsp file with four solutions: three whose feature scopes are site-based and one whose feature scope is web-based. Each of their feature.xmls are included within the wsp file respectively. The install package fails with an error message of, "Feature '[feature id]' is Web-scoped, and can not be added to the Site." When seperated into two different install packages (one for the three site-based feature scoped solutions and another for the web-based scoped solution) they are installed without issue. Is there a way to include solutions with different feature-scopes in one install package?

I have used the installer on my dev machine with WSS and solutions install nice and easily. I did the same thing on a MOSS server and the solution was added but after 10 minutes had not deployed. I checked the job in Central Adminsitration and it was scheuled for deployment yesterday. Looking into the code I see the deploy date is set in the function:

protected static DateTime GetImmediateJobTime()

{

return DateTime.Now - TimeSpan.FromDays(1);

}

This will obviously always set the deployment to yesterday, but why do that? Additionally why does it go straight into deplyment on WSS and stop for MOSS?

Hi,
I have developed an event handler,called TaskListEventHandler, for the Task list ((ItemAdding, ItemDeleting, ItemUpdating) as feasture using the WSP Builder project template, and I have also added a web part, called RegisterEventHandler, which will be used to bind(register) the events to a list. The webpart is WSP Builder template "Webpart without feature".

Defaultly, when i added the new webpart into the project, the .webpart file was created under the folder 80/wpcatalog. But as i wanted the whole project as a singel feature I moved the .webpart file to the Feature/TaskListEventHandler folder. Now the Feature/TaskListEventHandler contains 3 files elements.xml, feature.xml and the RegisterEventHandler.webpart.

I edited the elememts.xml as follows

Next, i build the poject using the WSP builder, and later create the deployment folder. When i try to install the feature using the WSPBuilder setup.exe file, the feature is getting deployed sucessfully.The feature and the webpart is getting deployed sucessfully. The web part is available in the web part gallery (SiteSetting-> EditPage-> Add a WebPart).

But the webpart's is not under the specific group which i had set in the elements.xml (currently it is shown under the "Miscellaneous" group) , and also the webpart is not shown(visible/available ) under the root site's web parts Galleries (Site Action->Site Settings->WebParts(Galleries) ).

I tried the installing+deploying + activating the feature using the STSADM command(through batch file), it works sucessfully, even the grouping is getting set as per my requirement.

Could you please suggest me a solution, how can i get it working using the WSPBuilder's Setup.exe

I complaint about the same problem.

The IIS reset should be configurable throught the xml configuration file.

Or the IIS reset should be substituted by one application pool recycle.

Yes, the bottom left label is in fact an attribution notice.

But I have no problem with you removing it as long as you only distribute the modified version with your own product.

I have created setup.exe using Sharpoint Installer. My Webpart name is "CustomCalendarDataBase" and it is developed using VseWss 1.3 and VS-2008. My

webpart solutions generate CustomCalendarDataBase.Webpart file for the webpart. When i run setup file, it give "customcalendardatabase.webpart" has

an unsupported extension, and cannot be added to the solution store. error message. Although setup is able to find my solution file and all other

system check is passed.

Does the installer run iisreset every time? I have a solution that is just deploying files and does not require iisreset, but the setup seems to do it anyway. Is there a way to control that?

Multiple features can be activated by the installer as long as they are all within the one WSP file and are for the same scope level. The config above won't work as the feature GUID's must be sepearated using a semi-colon (";") and not a comma.
